The channels are mostly broken ice packs, with the open water on the west side of the fort around the wetland area. Yesterday Jim and/or I saw hundreds of Lesser Scaup; a Ring-necked Duck; forty two Ruddy Duck; three Horned Grebe and a Red-Necked Grebe; eighteen American Coot; three Redhead; Buffleherads; and American Widgeon. Today's list was pretty much the same. A Horned Lark and five American Pipit have also been listed. Jim is not going to be there this weekend; but the path around the fort is now clear.
