When I get these calls, my first question is to ask whether or not the caller has hollies in their yard. Invariably the answer is yes. I spent the last week of January birding in Nova Scotia. Although we never found big flocks of robins like the ones in Maryland, we did find 3 to 5 birds almost everywhere we went. This includes seeing them along highways in Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
