As the snow is raiply melting leaving more ground showing and large puddles in the fields there where few birds feeding on the road edges . lots of Ring-billed gulls and geese in the fields. off to sparks rd near Ridgely md in caroline Co where the Horned Larks and 2 Lapland Longspurs where located. Due to the melting snow two large ponded areas held lots of mallards a few Black Ducks 25 pintails, several Tundra Swans and lots of canada geese, Ring-Billed Gulls and 2 Greater Black-backed gulls on Sparks Rd . Sparks rd was not to bad but other dirt roads in the area are pretty muddy use caution if birding here. On wed Feb 26 in the snow we had i located a single Male Lapland Longspur on the Mason Branch Rd in Queen Annes Co its off 304 near Ruthsburg about 3 to 4 miles from sparks rd and near the caroline Co and Queen Annes Co border . It was with a flock of Hored Larks feeding on the road edge. It was a new Co bird for me.
