How common are they on the Susquehanna???? Pied-billed Grebe 1 Horned Grebe 1 Perryville Boat Ramp (open water) American Coot 12 strangely quiet Charlestown Wharf (mostly open water) Common Mergs 4000 to 5000 on the open water. Lots of feeding. Lots of gulls but nothing unusual to my armature gull watching eyes. Not even a Boney. There seemed to be a major source of food which from watching what the gull pilfered from the Mergs and by the unique oily fishy odor in the air were either Manhaden or Alewives. North East Town Park (still frozen over) Lots of gulls but again, nothing unusual. Hooded Mergs 2 Parke pjohn@wlgore.com parke@del.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
