MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi All, Nancy, Ian and I took an outing to southern Kent County today, partly in = response to the Red-necked Grebe fallout reports. We checked a variety = of locations including Great Oak Landing and environs, Eastern Neck NWR, = and Broad Neck and Cliffs City landings on the Chester.=20 Some of our highlights included: a *Red-throated Loon* off headquarters = at Eastern Neck NWR; two *Red-necked Grebes* at Eastern Neck Narrows; a = Double-crested Cormorant at Cliffs City Landing; 130 Tundra Swans at = Eastern Neck plus 15 others elsewhere; 15 American Wigeon on Great Oak = Pond plus two at Eastern Neck Narrows; 125 Long-tailed Ducks halooing = across the water at Eastern Neck NWR HQ; 15 Common Mergansers at Great = Oak Landing plus two at Eastern Neck; 70 Red-breasted Mergansers at = Cliffs City plus 24 at Eastern Neck; 13 Bald Eagles including six on = Quaker Neck; two Northern Harriers at Eastern Neck; 4 Bonaparte's Gulls = at Eastern Neck Narrows; and, our only out-of-the-ordinary passerine, = single American Tree Sparrows on Eastern Neck north of the Refuge, and = at Eastern Neck Narrows. The Red-necked Grebe fallout seems to be very widespread, there was a = sighting on the Connecticut River at Turners Falls, Massachusetts = yesterday.
