However a beautiful winter plumaged Red-throated Loon popped up just a few feet from where I was standing on the boardwalk, took one look at me, dove and never reappeared (no doubt because I was going to video it on next appearance). Also in view: large rafts of Ruddy Ducks, some Canvasbacks, one Black Scoter, Buffleheads, Common Goldeneyes, Greater and Lesser Scaup, American Coots, a pair of Wood Ducks, a few Horned Grebes and the ubiquitous Mallards and various hybrids.
