I suspect that the food value of a small bird to a Red-Tail is not energy-efficient (bird spends more energy catching and eating than is returned by the catch). Hence, a Red-Tail is not a threat while the smaller Sharpie is a threat (as well a more agile and spends less energy making the kill)?
