Remember that the refuge itself is a pretty big place (26,000 acres- don't know if that includes water) and all of the trees are not going to "take". Assuming that half the acreage is water, 30,000 more trees is an average of just two more trees per acre. I watched them plant the tubes -- assuming that there was something in them -- but have yet to see anything alive resembling a tree in virtually any of them. The tubes and stakes do make for a fair perch, though.
