Comments: To: md-smas@yahoogroups.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Today (3/7) in late morning, a single Red-necked Grebe was observed in the Patuxent River north of the fishing pier off of Lower Marlboro Rd. in Lower Marlboro. The bird was actively catching small perch . Along that stretch of the river I also observed an Osprey, more than 50 Red-breasted Mergansers, a half-dozen Common Mergansers and a dozen or so Lesser Scaup. Driving along Route 2/4 I spotted a crow flying with a large stick in its bill -- heading for a nesting site, no doubt. The Carolina Wrens that have nested in our garage for some years now have deposited their first leaf in a small berry basket on the garage shelf. I have to remember to leave the door cracked so they can continue construction.
