We finished with 66 = species including 21 waterfowl species. Killdeer appear to have been = arriving as they were numerous and widespread. Our best birds were three = Red-necked Grebes (2 at the Narrows and one at Bogle's Wharf), two = Red-throated Loons (both at Bogle's), and four White-winged Scoters off = the refuge headquarters. A stop at Chesapeake (formerly Remington) Farms = revealed open water on the viewing pond packed with 70 shovelers and = five other waterfowl, plus three White-crowned Sparrows along the = hedgerows. One of the oddest sights of the day was a Horned Lark perched = bluebird-style on a corn stalk - one of the few times I've seen a lark = perched on anything other than terra firma.
