What a difference a week makes. Most of the snow was gone so I could actually walk without difficulty, but the area is extremely wet. Started at the impoundments and walked to the towpath and came back through the fields to Hunting Quarter Rd.. Not a bad day. Didn't seem particularly active but ended up with 38 species. Highlights were 2 Red-necked Grebes in winter plumage in the first impoundment to the west(probably here because of the high river level), 34 Ring-necked Ducks, a flyover Golden Eagle, 3 American Woodcocks(one displaying and 2 more peenting), and 4 Tree Swallows starting to reclaim their breeding territories.
