I had the same feeling when, Sunday morning, I checked the river out my front door (the
upper, upper reaches of the Magothy in Severna Park) and found two new yard birds just off the
dock - - a pair each of RN Grebes and Red-breasted mergansers. Made my day.

Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM, on the way to the MCI Center to see MJ, I told
my son he could pick up a lifer RN Grebe with a little luck. 30 seconds
from the SW Freeway, on Haines Point just north of the Railroad bridge was a
RN Grebe, 30 feet from the road. Peregrine falcon was on the railroad
bridge superstructure.

This afternoon at 4:30 on the northbound GW Parkway between the 14th St
Bridge and Memorial Bridge, 3 RN Grebes close to the VA shore. This at 50
MPH, no binocs (as a passenger, not a driver).
