They were further downstream than usual (Ray Kiddy and I drove down = almost to the train bridge that crosses the river and parked near there). = There was also a Horned Grebe and a Pied-billed Grebe around. An AM. = COOT, a male CANVASBACK, a male NORTHERN PINTAIL, single female AM. = GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 2 AM. BLACK DUCKS, 2 LESSER SCAUP, and about 8 or 10 = Mallards were also present there on Saturday. On Sunday (3/9), I found that like several places (incl. Rocky Gap = and virtually everywhere in Garrett County), Big Pool and Blair's Valley = Lake in Washington County are still frozen. McCoys Ferry (on the Potomac) = had a singe RED-NECKED GREBE. Back at the Terminus on Sunday there were = 110 gulls (all Ring-billed), and a few more Scaup than on Saturday (about = 5 or 6) indicating that things are moving around a bit.
