(off of alternate US 1[Washington St.]) in SW Baltimore Co. hosted all three species of merganser today, along with a few other duck species. Today's tally of waterbirds: DC Cormorant--1 Great Blue Heron--1 Canada Goose--6 Gadwall--2 drakes Am. Wigeon--pair Mallard--16 Hooded Merganser--14 Common Merganser--18 Red-breasted Merganser--5 Killdeer--4 Sue Probst and I unsuccesfully searched for woodcocks and owls at the Belmont conference Center in Howard Co. this evening, before the rain drove us away. Of interest was a drake LESSER SCAUP on the little pond there, and an AM. TREE SPARROW along the wood's edge.
