Birds MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Sunday, I thought I would get out in one of my atlas blocks = (Centreville NW) and see what I could find. I was rewarded with a male = and female Hairy Woodpecker vocalizing, and moving about as a pair, = making them a Probable early on in their safe dates. Back on Kent Island, at the end of Cox Neck (shown as Turkey Point on = maps), I scanned Eastern Bay. White-winged Scoters, Buffleheads, Lesser = Scaup, Common Golden-eyes, and Long-tailed Ducks were plentiful. But = the highlight was the 57 Horned Grebes - and not a Red-necked among = them! There is a Bald Eagle nest at Turkey Point, and two adults have been = hanging around it for at least a month now. I have not seen any = evidence of fledgling yet. I also observed an Osprey carrying nesting material in the vicinity of = commonly used nests on Cox Neck..
