Right now there is a canvasback down there. This is not an every year bird for this lake maybe every other year at best. I wish I kept records of the March/November migrants but most years it's just the usual suspects -ringnecks, tons of geese, etc. Only on a few occasions have we had redheads, scaup and mergs other than hooded. There has been exactly one loon in eighteen years and it stayed for a week. Two years ago a female bufflehead stuck around until June 25. Other than that, it's usually just another group of Rick Blom's flying rats (mallards). The canvasback is a welcome rarity.
