It was freshly killed and the head and neck were eaten. I remember reading that Great Horned Owls eat ducks in this manner- can anyone confirm this? Not a big change in the ducks - a single BUFFLEHEAD, 4 LESSER SCAUP, 2 pair HOODED MERGANSERS the same RUDDY DUCKS and RING-NECKS. 2 PHOEBES were the only new passerines. Very unhappy to see a very aggressive MUTE SWAN. A friend that has had nesting COOPER"S in his yard for the last few years reported that they have just returned.
