Canoing back the next morning, the rn grebe was in front of us and stayed in front of us for quite some time, diving and resurfacing. This was when I was even less sophisticated than currently about birding so all I have in my guide is a check mark and the location. It could have been 1994 or 1995 - I think it was at least June but it could have been May - the rng was definitly in breeding plumage which is why I can be certain that's what I saw . I have another older guide I will check to see if I put in a real date. Thanks for info.
