Whiffed on Canvasback, Cormorant, Goldeneye, Merg. However, 20 or so Am. Wigeon, 100s of Ringneck, 12 RN Grebe, about 20 Bufflehead, single pair of Redhead and 6 Wood Duck in the marsh at the west end of Big Pool. Also our first E. Phoebe (2) of the year, and finished off with a beautiful RS Hawk couple perched nicely. Not much of a species count but a very nice day to be out. Joe Alexander Middletown, Frederick Co., MD Frederick Co. MOS joealexander@adelphia.net -----Original Message----- On Sat. 22 my friend Anna Hutzell and I went to Big Pool to see to see the ducks that Dave Perry had reported. We were not disappointed. We saw R-N grebes, Ring-necked ducks, Canvasbacks, Great-crested Cormorants, Common Golden Eye, many Buffleheads, R-B Merganser (1), many Canada Geese. Among all the ducks may have been the gadwalls, Am. Wigeons that Dave saw. Anna & I are new at duck identification so we may have missed them. We found most of the ducks at the far end of the lake.
