Subject: DC Sightings - 3/23 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hit a few spots in DC again today (Sun 3/23), here are the highlights: 3 RED-NECKED GREBE - much fewer in evidence today along the Washington Channel & Tidal Basin 1 REDHEAD - adult male, Tidal Basin 2 RING-NECKED DUCK - Tidal Basin 1 WILSON'S SNIPE - Anacostia wetlands 30-40 BONAPARTE'S GULL - working the river between Gravelly Point and the RR bridge. All were basic plumaged adults except one that was about halfway to alternate (breeding) plumage. 6 TREE SWALLOW - Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens (KAG) 3 NO. ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW - KAG 2 AMERICAN PIPIT - Kenilworth Park While birding at Hains Point (watching the gulls), I made a point not to look at the airport or the planes taking off with my binoculars. I'm not sure if it really mattered, though no one ever stopped to talk to me even though there were a fair number of police around.
