Fallon" Subject: Swans over Bowie MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit We tend to think of Tundra Swans as primarily diurnal migrants, but on Sat eve a flock was heard flying north over S Bowie at 8:15 pm, calling distinctly and even awesomely. Though not visible in the dark, I estimated they numbered between 50 and 100 by the length of time they took to pass over. Their flight path was as if following Rt 301. I wonder if anyone else in Bowie heard these swans. An atlas-motivated owl prowl with Paul Nistico early the next morning in the Piscataway area turned up 2 Screech, 4 Barred, and 1 Great Horned.
