Key point is that migrant landbirds are making it worth birding the edges of the Golf Course. Here are some highlights: 5 RED-NECKED GREBE - 3 at Tidal Basin, 2 in Washington Channel (keeping my fingers crossed that at least one lingers into April for my DCxApril list ;-) 20 BONAPARTE'S GULLS - flying up the Potomac (again, all looked like they were in basic plumage) 1 CASPIAN TERN - Washington Channel, FOTS 25 NORTHERN FLICKER - good movement of these birds flying north over the golf course 1 PURPLE MARTIN - over golf course, FOTS 1 BROWN CREEPER - golf course 1 HERMIT THRUSH - south end of golf course 1 BROWN THRASHER - south end of golf course 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS - south end of golf course; still just starting to trickle in 1 CHIPPING SPARROW - south end of golf course 1 SWAMP SPARROW - south end of golf course Good birding, Paul Pisano Arlington, VA cheep@erols.com ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
