Be aware that there are 2 female scaup floating around the Columbia Lakes. The lesser was last at Wilde and the greater at Elkhorn. Thanks to Matt for sending us back to re-evaluate the Elkhorn bird. She is fairly indeterminate- Lacks a good knob and cheek spot. She has a fairly broad white band at the base of her bill. She did raise out of the water and flap a wing showing white to the end of her primary. It would be nice of the 2 females would hook up and allow good comparison of head shape/ect. Id love to hear a discussion of what people find most useful for determining scaup. ********She was last seen at the cove by the Cradlerock parking lot***** Bonnie Ott Howard County Field Trip Chair Ellicott City, MD bonnie1163@comcast.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
