A colleague at work, very logical, observant, but not an experienced birder, saw what she thought was an eastern wood-pewee in bushes at the back of her yard (the area is an old-treed part of Kensington) on March 23. She said she and her family observed it for about five minutes and used Peterson for identification. It looked like a flycatcher and had wing bars but no eye ring. On the other hand, I checked the web for migration information, and from what I can tell, ew-p's don't start migrating through our area until at least April. One site for southwestern Indiana said the first recorded date for a migrator was March 22. So I'm wondering if this seems like a plausible sighting for our area (Maryland suburbs of DC).
