A few Towhees singing their hearts out, as well as Chipping Sparrow. A turkey Vulture was sitting by the edge of ther creek with its wings spread, drying them, then flew up to a tree to do the same when I came by. A singing Dark-eyed Junco almost had me thinking "Chipping Sparrow" until I saw it sing. It was so beautiful at lunchtime that I took a chair outside and sat in front of my shop (in Silver Spring) with my binoculars, looking overhead for migrant hawks. Had a single Osprey, 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 1 American Kestrel, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, and a pair of Red-tailed Hawks flying over in 1/2 hour mid-day. Also a flock (7) of Turkey Vultures heading NE, and a Turkey and Black Vulture soaring low. All the hawks were coming from the SW and heading NNE. What a pretty day!
