No, I didn't bother to send the gentleman my analysis (it WAS a bird, wasn't it??); but I didn't hesitate to send him Walter's, with attribution. I think we now have a consensus of sorts. I include my mail to the other 33 mailers. Regards, Hugo Dear Ollie the Owl fans, thank you all - to date I have received 33 emails about Ollie- for your comments about the new constellation Ollie the Owl! The opinions on what bird it is were (with numbers of "votes" indicated): Peregrine Falcon: 8 A type of Hawk: 3 Red Tailed Hawk: 2 Great Horned Owl (GHO): 4 Bubo virginianus nacurutu: 1 (a type of GHO) Bubo magellanicus: 2* (a type of GHO) (* means ornithologists opinion) Harpy Eagle: 1 Vulture: 1 Burrowing Owl: 1 The Last Thing a Rabbit Sees: 1 there were also some mails that just said "Hey, neat!" or "Nice April Fools day!" and didn't give an opinion about the bird. One entry had info that the Bubo Magellanicus has claws in the 2F2R grasp and the pic shows 3F1R, which goes against the ID of the ornothologists! The same mail stated that the GHO has the right 3F1R grasp so concludes that it is a GHO. Total number of votes for GHO is 7. So in conclusion I believe the experts agree that it is a GHO but don't fully agree if it is a Bubo Virginianus (Nacaructu) or Bubo Magellanicus. Amateurs voted a lot for the Peregrine Falcon. Thanks a lot to all of you! Hugo With your mail it is 8 votes for the GHO! ***************************************************** Hugo E.
