Between 6:30 and 7:15 pm observed with a scope from the boardwalk loop two American Bitterns on the far SW edge of the marsh. Initially saw only one, in its classic neck and bill erect posture. Later a second one joined it. Other interesting birds: Brown Thrasher (beginning of boardwalk), a pair of Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, 2 female Hooded Mergansers, a Killdeer and 4 Pectoral Sandpipers (inside the loop), a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
