The URL is: http://www.mdbirds.org/mddcrc/rcindex.html We invite you to visit the site. The highlights are ... 1. More Explanations. On the home page, we have provided more detailed information about the reports that can be found at each link. 2. New DC and MD Official Lists. The differences from the previous lists are: 2.a Multi-part Format. We have changed to a "multi-part" format. The lists are now segmented into parts. These parts are: Part 1 - Accepted species from the MD or DC baselines or added by an MD/DCRC accepted record Part 2 - Accepted as a member of a genus or a complex of species. (e.g., Cepphus, sp.) Part 3 - Accepted unusual field-identifiable subspecies or forms for MD or DC Part 4 - Accepted species that may not be wild or naturally occurring (e.g., Monk Parakeet) Part 5 - Accepted species whose natural history precludes wild or natural occurrence (e.g. Black Swan) 2.b Number of Species. Note that the traditional "official list" of species is comprised of Parts 1 and 2 of each list. A species line counter indicates the total number of species accepted. 2.c Documentation Types. We now show indicate the type of documentation available for each species. The documentation types we use are S (specimen), P (physical-photo, video, audio recordings), or W (written-report, sketch, artwork, banding data). "?" items are still being researched. 2.d Year Added. We now indicate the year each species was added to the checklist (note, this is generally NOT the year the species was first observed). 3. Official List Chronologies. We have added links to reports that show when species were added to the MD and DC official lists. These lists are sorted in reverse chronological order, then by taxonomic order. All reports are generated directly from the MD/DCRC database. If anyone has any comments or questions, please fire away. Thanks to Fran Saunders for making these updates to the MOS web site. Phil PS - Don't bother to look for the Kelp Gull. It's now in round #2 of review. =================================================== Phil Davis, Secretary MD/DC Records Committee 2549 Vale Court Davidsonville, Maryland 21035 USA 301-261-0184 mailto:PDavis@ix.netcom.com MD/DCRC Web site: http://www.MDBirds.org/mddcrc/rcindex.html =================================================== ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
