The trails at the = aroboretum were pleasant this afternoon, but almost innocent of migrants = and birdsong. However we did have a few highlights to report. At = Tuckahoe Creek on Crouse's Mill Rd (where the lake and landing are) = there was a Green Heron and a Caspian Tern. Further west on Crouse's = Mill Rd near Damsontown Rd we saw a Merlin dash past over a female = Northern Harrier. At the Hope crossroad where Dean Rd crosses Route 305 = (Hope Rd) there was a big flock of gulls accompanied by a flock of = sandpipers - this assemblage included 2 Dunlin, 97 Pectoral Sandpipers, = and 40 Bonaparte's Gulls. Further north along Hayden Rd a male Northern = Harrier flushed 24 American Pipits. It will be interesting to see what = feathered hope tonight's clear weather brings.
