MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Saturday, I birded Elk Neck State Forest and except for the usuals (including displaying Red-shouldered Hawks) were a modest amount of Pine Warblers. Sunday, I birded Courthouse Point. The impoundment was a huge mud flat from recent dredging with lots of water. It even had nesting Canada Geese on it. The pond was full and held lots of ducks including Ringneck, Green-winged Teal, Shoveler, Gadwall. Also sighted was s Caspian Tern. As I was heading back to walk thru the woods, three shore birds passed over head low. After checking the woods a I trekked around the impoundment and at the north end found three Lesser Yellowlegs. These mud flats look inviting for shore birds, but I'm concerned that they will have little nutritional valve for the birds because they're so new and will grow with phrags very fast. We will see. I than did Bethel WMA which only offered Coots, Pied-billed Grebe and American Widgeon as new species. However there were 4 Caspian Terns and many Tree Swallows. In the afternoon I birded the Rouge's Harbor beaver dam at Elk Neck State Park and found 8 Green-winged Teal, a calling Pied-billed Grebe (really neat), a pair of Blue Winged Teal (my quarry) and a pair of Woodies. There was a singing Eastern Phoebe and a singing Swamp Sparrow also present. Phoebe's are here in good numbers now. Last but not least, a male Pine Warbler showed up at my feeder Sunday afternoon and became a new life yard bird.
