Subject: C&O Canal, Mont. Co., 4/18

I walked along the C&O Canal from Lock 5 to just beyond Lock 6 and back
this morning. Along the towpath were 1 Black-and-white Warbler, 1 Palm
Warbler, 3 Northern Parulas, 4 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Ruby-crowned
Kinglets, and 5 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers.

Out on the river above Lock 6 were 1 Osprey, 1 Caspian Tern, many swallows
(Tree, Rough-winged, Barn), a pair of Bald Eagles flying south, and many
Double-crested Cormorants flying north.

The singing White-throated Sparrows made up for the dull weather.
