See this site: http://www.virtualbirder.com/vbirder/realbirds/dbhsc/Intro.html I am posting publicly because their spawning is of potential interest to all birders - it coincides with the northward migration of mainly 4 shorebirds: Red Knot, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Ruddy Turnstone, and Sanderling. These shorebirds stop for prolonged feeding on horseshoe crab eggs that are uncovered by the crabs trying to bury eggs where eggs are already buried. Horseshoes are now used for bait for eel, whelk, and conch fishing. They are badly overcollected, and this has seriously depleted shorebird numbers. The Delaware Bay is very special from a world ornithology perspective because of horseshoes, and its protection is very overdue. Is there someone out there who can answer this question. When do the horseshoe crab spawn in the Delaware bay? You could answer this question off the sever.
