Some highlights were, of course many, many Ospreys. At least 4 were flying around the parking area, 2 with legs dangling and calling in display flight, while one looked to be staking out a light pole by the ball field for a possible nest. Other good finds were a single Great Egret, 2 Blue-headed Vireos, Hermit Thrush, Tree and N. Rough-winged Swallows, Chimney Swifts, A. Kestrel, Wood Ducks, D-C Cormorants, Caspian Terns, many gnatcatchers and Ruby-crowned Kinglets, and Palm Warbler, Yellow-rumped and Common Yellowthroat. Tucker Lane in Ashton, Montgomery County MD this morning held the first White-eyed Vireo and Black&White Warbler of the season for me, as well as many singing N. Parulas, Yellow-rumped, Louisiana Waterthrush, flyover Common Loon and cormorant, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Wood Ducks, many towhees, and a chickadee carrying deer fur for a nest.
