I'd add that you can enhance your birding anywhere in the state by picking up a copy of Claudia Wild's book on Birding in the Narional Capital Area. It is beautifully written, often humorous in a subtle way, and even though several years old, still a detailed (with specific directions and maps) guide to birding in Maryland. Good birding, and good luck with the stilts - - they've often been right where the gravel road crosses the line of utility wires - - scan the ponds southeast of there and walk the lane heading south with a scope. >>> ClodvigII@AOL.COM 04/22/03 08:02PM >>> Greetings all, I'm taking a two day wander to the eastern shore and would like to know if anyone out there has any recommended "hot spots" to get a good dose of birds in Somerset County. The only place I've birded is the rest stop on Rt. 13., which is pretty thin birdwise.
