They were in the area of the group campground on top of the hill near the end of Kingsley trail, where they've been reported before. Had to fight my way through swarms of gnatcatchers to get to the prairies! Also many N. PARULA singing, along the creek. Took the time to locate three for good looks. Also at Little Bennett had Field Sparrow carrying nesting material, and one OVENBIRD heard only. On my way from LB to the canal at Noland's Ferry I drove Lily Pons Rd and found about 12 A. PIPITS in a tilled field. At the canal there were lots of Yellow-rumps, a single PINE WARBLER, and my first HOUSE WREN of the year. Cold start but a beautiful day to be out.
