Waterthrush and Yellowthroated Warbler, and species such as Worm-eating, Ovenbird, etc. may be on territory by this date. However, because migrants of some species are still coming through, they are not actually in "safe dates." But if a singing male is heard/seen over a period of time in the same place, and it is a habitat in which this species can breed, it is a pretty good indication of probable breeding. For example, Worm-eating Warbler breeds regularly, if not every year, on the dry slopes of Rock Creek's west ridge.
