I was surprised to finally find a good flight of warblers, vireos, and other spring migrants. The best bird and most surprising bird of the day was a Great Crested Flycatcher. I checked the yellow book and it seems that this bird is a little early but they have been seen in late April before... the rest of the birds seen yesterday were: Black and White Warbler, Pine Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Blue-winged Warbler -(probably), Northern Parula, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Yellow throated Vireo, and Caspian Tern. Also yesterday i spent a few hours fiching the Susquhanna Flats. No fish were caught but I did manage to see a few interesting birds. In Harford County I had a Common Loon in Alternate Plumage near Battery Island. In Cecil County I had another Common Loon in basic plumage, Red-necked Grebe (basic), Forster's Tern, Caspian Tern, Double-crested Cormorant, and Bonaparte's Gulls in both plumages. (there were a lot of bonies out there. Finally I added yet another bird to my yard list. A single Snowy egret was foraging through the young AV at low tide. I Also had a pair of female Red- breasted Mergansers in the cove at my house yesterday.
