MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi Everybody, I had a pleasantly damp time on Poplar Island this morning, my thanks to = Wayne Bell, Jan Reese, and the State and Army Corps folks who made the = adventure possible. But this post is about what I found on my way home. I decided to take a look at Great Oak Pond off Handy Pt. Road before = heading to the hearth. I was glad I did as I found a handsome *Black = Tern* coursing over the pond like a greyhound. Also present were 2 = Green-winged Teal, 2 Northern Shovelers, 2 Ring-necked Ducks, 7 Ruddy = Ducks (several drakes now quite ruddy), a flyby Caspian Tern, a = kingbird, and four swallow species including my first Bank Swallow of = the year. The local Bald Eagle pair that nests not too far off on = Fairlee Creek came by to harass the resident Canada Geese. On the way = home on Fish Hatchery Rd we had our first Wood Thrush of the season in = glorious song. Ah, such Olympian music, Apollo must have tuned his lyre = whilst listening to Catharus thrushes.
