Subject: Rock Creek Park Sunday MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Sunday morning was a little slow, but we did hear a calling YB CUCKOO at the N end of the ridge picnic area. Also of note: Small numbers bet several PALM, B&W, and YELLOW-RUMPED warblers at the ridge, as well as calling OVENBIRDS and PARULA and WORM-EATING warblers. There were also several WOOD THRUSHES below the picnic area. A single SWIFT and a single BARN SWALLOW flew over between several small flights of BLUE JAYS. We were also buzzed by a HUMMER. At the Maintenance yard: 2 REDATARTS chasing each other, as well as a BLACK-THROATED GREEN warbler, a WHITE-EYED vireo, and a FIELD SPARROW. There were more WORM-EATING warblers and WOOD THRUSHES singing deep in the woods. We also heard the tcheck-note of to water thrushes. They were very flat and non-musical, and did not sound like the more familiar Louisiana so PROBABLE NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH others reported a TENNESSEE warbler at the maintenance yard also.
