I also followed the road on the other side of 482, over to Gorsuch Rd., which follows the same stream and runs along some fields also. Birds seen: Red-tailed Hawk Am. Crow Canada Goose Great Blue Heron ( 2 ) Blue Jay Flicker Downy Woodpecker Red-bellied Woodpecker ( heard ) RED-HEADED WOODPECKER ( the first this spring )--seen between Rt.482 and Rt.27 Mourning Dove Mockingbird Brown Thrasher Grey Catbird Robin Hermit Thrush Wood Thrush ( heard---for about 30 minutes, my favorite birdsong, and first for the spring for me ) Barn Swallow Carolina Wren House Wren Eastern Towhee Song Sparrow White-throated Sparrow ( many ) Field Sparrow ( between Rt. 482 and Gorsuch Rd. Indigo Bunting ( first for me this spring ) Am. Goldfinch Carolina Chickadee Tufted Titmouse Cardinal Red-winged Blackbird Baltimore Oriole ( first for spring, and watched 3 males chasing each other and singing loudly ) Blue-headed Vireo White-eyed Vireo ( first for spring and my favorite vireo ) Strangely enough I didn't see or hear any warblers!!! I don't know where they were hiding, but I was in a cooler, low-lying area, and maybe they weren't out and about yet? I LOVE SPRING!!!!
