New for me at Henryton Rd on Wednesday (Apr 30) were Green Heron - 1 Scarlet Tanager - 2+ Wood Thrush - 3+ Worm-eating Warbler - 1 The Yellow-throated Warbler at the end of Henryton Road was still singing and giving Gail Frantz and me good looks. The Worm-eating Warbler was very visible in the burned area on the roadside near the end. We walked a mile or more to the west from the end of the road. It's a delightful area, and easy to walk. At Milford Mill Thursday (May 1) some warblers (13 species) and other goodies were (*= new for season for me): Yellow-throated Vireo Blue-headed Vireo Warbling Vireo - 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1 Veery (heard only)* Wood Thrush American Robin Gray Catbird (Scads! Most must have come in last night.) Blue-winged Warbler - 1 Northern Parula - ~5 Chestnut-sided Warbler* Magnolia Warbler - 1* Black-throated Blue Warbler Yellow-rumped Warbler - 5+ (winding down somewhat) Black-throated Green Warbler - 1+* Blackburnian Warbler - 1* Black-and-white Warbler - 1 Ovenbird Northern Waterthrush (or Louisiana??) Common Yellowthroat Hooded Warbler - 1 (heard only)* Scarlet Tanager (3+) Baltimore Oriole (heard only) I was joined at Milford Mill by Elliott Kirschbaum, Paul Noell, Joel Martin, and Paul Koehler. Later at Soldiers Delight on my own I added: Prairie Warbler Pine Warbler Nashville Warbler Nice day! The big wave of migrants is apparently underway. Backtracking to Tuesday at Lake Roland, Baltimore Orioles were definitely in, with 8 species of warbler by my count, and great looks at Yellow-throated Vireos for a few of us at the end.
