This morning about 11:00 I was permitted a short break from my first (unfortunately not "and only") day of jury duty. I stepped out into the concrete environs of 500 Indiana Ave to hear a distinct "teacher Teacher Teacher! TEACHER!" Heard once more on my was *back* from Starbucks. So I was eager to get out at lunchtime, but soon decided the Ovenbird was a fluke. City birds, a few White-throated Sparrows -- not even a gull in the air. But as I looked up trying to find them, a couple American Crows came barking in from the east. They were making such a ruckus I thought they might be onto something, and sure enough, they joined up with a couple of their cohorts to mob what appeared to be a Red-tailed Hawk that came (from my perspective) from behind a roof a couple blocks away. Tomorrow I'm taking my binocs! -- Carrol Cowan Washington DC arielamc(at)att.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
