Down the Road to Pickering Creek - Today a Semipalmated Plover had joined the flock of shorebirds in = the Pickering Creek Wetlands. Still around 240 total of shorebirds on = the premises. Bluebird story at Pickering Creek is very sad this year - as of = today there are only three active nests - one with four eggs, one with = three young, one with five young. Last year at this point there were = sixteen active Bluebird nests, and some Tree Swallows were also getting = started. The Bluebirds over here must have taken a severe hit from the = snowy winter. Elsewhere - off Landing Neck Road in eastern Talbot County - this = afternoon I found a Yellow-breasted Chat (first of year for me) and at = the same spot - a Northern Bob White was calling (1st of year for me). = Many White-eyed Vireos at that same place. Along Tarbutton Mill Road - = a Black-and-white Warbler, singing Red-eyed Vireo, Worm-eating Warbler, = several Pine Warblers, several Wood Thrush, and several more Catbirds.
