It works with several of the bird song CDs (Peterson's bird songs but not birding by ear which is a great way to learn as well). You load the program and then put the supported Bird song CD of your choice in your CD drive. The Avisong program allows you to click on a bird name and the song immediately plays. you can select a group of birds (maybe the ones you heard recently in the field) and play them over in mixed order - you set it to either play the name of the bird or just the song. It will then quiz you by playing the songs in random order and you have to choose which it is. It is a great way to focus on and compare particular birds or to quickly check a questionable song you heard in the field - no searching for the song on the CD.
