The cool temperatures and wind (which I battled all day long) may have been the culprit. Yellow-throated Warbler (5) Yellowthroat (2) E. Kingbird (1) Gnatcatchers (many) Barred Owl (2 calling) Ovenbird (many) Myrtle Warbler (many) Praire Warbler (2) Pine Warbler (many) I then proceeded to the Wicomico Demonstration Forest trails off Old Bradley Rd. This area is very cool. Anyone who has an intrest in birding the western side of Wicomico Co. should check this place out. Summer Tanager (1) Worm-eating Warbler (3) Prothonotary Warbler (1) Ovenbirds (many) Swamp Sparrow (2) Orchard Oriole (2) At Naylor Mill Park notable species Scarlet tanager (4) Prothonotary Warbler (5) Great Horned Owl (1 calling) At Atkins Mill Park in Powellville Northern Waterthrush (1) Prothonotary Warblers (10) Northern Parula (1) White-eyed Vireo (2) Indigo Bunting (1) On Bear Swamp Rd I saw White-breasted Nuthatch (1) Brown-headed Nuthatch (15, two of the birds had almost a pure white head) Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2) Scarlet Tanager (4) Summer Tanager (6) Yellow-throated Vireo (2) White-eyed Vireo (many) Red-eyed Vireo (3) Black&White Warbler (15) Blackpoll Warbler (12) Am Redstart (8) Louisiana Waterthrush (1) Yellow-breasted Chat (1 calling) Even with the bad weather I still had a great day with over 80 species seen including 15 warbler species. Wicomico Co. I'm starting to find out has some really great birding areas.
