I was = chasing a three part call that I thought was Tenessee Warbler yesterday = around noon on Green Ridge Road. Just when I located the culprit, it flew = (giving me no chance for a look through binoculars). When I followed to = where it had flown to, I found a Golden-winged instead. I know golden-wing= eds actually do give a three part call that has some similarity to = Tenessee (a little known fact but you can hear this call on the Stokes = East CD or sometimes you can watch one sing this song if you are lucky) so = I never actually confirmed a Tenessee (drats). I think I remember reading = that this song is territorial ? (but I can't back that up; I'm about 25% = sure that it's good info. I'd have to check my sources). I ran into Ray = Kiddy at the same spot on Green Ridge Road and he related finding a = Golden-winged Warbler nearby earlier that day. =20 Incidentally Prairie Warblers were abundant as were many singing Pine = Warblers, and a few Worm-eating Warblers. I had one or two Rose-breasted = Grosbeaks, and a single singing Wood Thrush. Scarlet Tanagers were = singing virtually every time I stopped my car. Things are looking up out = this way.
