I'm thinking specifically of the section between Cherry Hill Rd and the University of Maryland in College Park (much of which was devasted by the '01 tornado). I bike this path all the time. New year birds for me today were Yellow Warbler (at least 3), Yellow-billed Cuckoo (1), and Baltimore Oriole (1). There were also at least 4 Indigo Buntings and plenty of Red-eyed Vireos. Last week I added Orchard Oriole to my year list along the trail. Also, the island in the golf course closest to Rte 193 had lots of baby Killdeer a few weeks ago and goslings last week.
