Despite the fog yesterday and today there were good things to see in my
morning walk through the zoo. On Tuesday there was a male Scarlet
Tanager singing across from the camels.

This morning there was a Wood Thrush singing and a number of Blackpolls
singing throughout the zoo. Best of all, a pair of Kingbirds are on a
nest in a large Sycamore tree across from the Monkey Island exhibit.
They can be seen by sitting on the stone bench in front of the exhibit
facing away from it. Also in that tree this morning were a pair of
Baltimore Orioles and a male Orchard Oriole. Later I saw the Baltimore
Orioles mating in some nearby trees. (Last year Baltimore Orioles had a
nest behind the bandstand.)
