We headed into Middle Patuxent this morning and were delighted with a **singing** LINCOLN'S SPARROW along a stream, in the woods in the brushy undergrowth. He obligingly popped up to spishing and displayed his lovely creamy-yellow breast. There were also 20 WHITE-THROATS hanging on. A couple SAVANNAH SPARROWS in the Clegg Meadow along with SONG and FIELD. I was reminded to look at warblers and they were plentiful. 1 BAY BREASTED 2 BLACKBURNIAN 8 BLUE-WINGS 8 PARULAS 4 MAGNOLIA 15 BTB 20 YELLOW RUMPS 8 BTG 1 BLACKPOLL 1 BLACK AND WHITE 20 REDSTARTS 8 OVENBIRDS 1 LOUISIANA 6 KENTUCKY 12 YELLOWTHROATS 4 HOODED 1 CHAT other nice finds were YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, VEERY, SWAINSONS and WOOD THRUSH, ACADIAN, SCARLET TANAGERS, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and YELLOW-THROATED VIREO. We probably could have doubled our numbers but were cut short by thunderstorm and rain. I arrived home to 3 male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS feasting on the platform feeder. A singing PEWEE was also my first of the spring. 177 now for Howard, but who's counting?
