Song was down, even from local breeders (I didn't hear a single Ovenbird, for example). I totalled 19 warbler species: N Parula, Tennessee (2 singing at Violette's, but not seen), Yellow, Magnolia (quite common), Black-throated Blue (ditto), Chestnut-sided, Cerulean (1 singing at Pennyfield!), Myrtle (still the most apparent warbler), Black-throated Green, Blackpoll, Black-and-White, Prothonotary, American Redstart, Worm-eating, all 3 Seiurus spp, Yellowthroat and Chat. The relatively low numbers of birds were made up for by excellent views of Worm-eating and Louisiana W at Blockhouse Pt and of the Chat off River Rd. The large gravel mound in the car park at Violette's also gives, from its peak, good views of birds in the forest edges. Nothing unusual in the non-warbler migrants, though there were at least 8 Spotted Sands at Violette's. No thrushes other than Wood.
